Feel the rain come tumbling down

Life is weird sometimes. I imagined today to be mindblowing - seeing Coldplay, one of my favorite bands, live for the first time. However, I didn't get to see them - there was a lot of trouble with the trains that were supposed to bring me to Cologne, we were late several times, and after the person that sat behind me started to talk really weirdly to another person on the phone, sounding as if planning to detonate a bomb (just don't ask), I left the train, called my mother in complete panic and finally went home with the next train. You see, the day was pretty messed up - but at least I found an unexpected e-mail in my university-mailbox, saying that we have to be in class tomorrow (which is never the case). So at least I won't miss another spanish class. Honestly? I would have prefered to experience the concert, but I guess that's not how life works.

Mad World

This weekend I’ve been informed about something that really shook me up. Lately I’ve been reading a lot of horrible news about girls who have been raped in school. The cases of schoolrape seemed to increase rapidly – and now I got to know, that not even half of these reports might be true.

Appearently there’s a new “trend” out there – girls who report they would have been raped, just to get into the center of attention. It seems that rape has started to become “cool” – something I can’t and don’t want to understand. However, it’s not even so much about the fact that this new “trend” really freaks me out, but above all about the fact, that this is not only not funny, but especially dangerous. It kind of reminded me of these girls who find it funny to run around with shirts reading “Rape me”. And remember the story of the boy who kept telling lies until something really bad happened and no one believed him anymore? I alerady see this coming.

Not only that it is dangerous for the girls who now pretend to be a victim of rape, but above all for REAL victims, who REALLY got raped. That I have to write this text in the first place is already horrible – there shouldn’t be a reason at all to have to question people who tell you that they got raped. And I really don’t want to do that either. It should be possible to believe people who tell you about such an incident, but these girls who now lie about something that horrible ruin it all for the people who really need help. I don’t even want to start to imagine the developement of this trend. It’s not funny. It’s not cool. Without a doubt the girls who follow this trend must have some serious problems anyway in their life, otherwise there wouldn’t be a reason to seek for attention in such a horrible way. I just hope that they are going to stop anyway – real rape victims shouldn’t be questioned because of other girls (and boys?) stupid game.
